Shantaram

WHY

This new Apple TV+ series is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, Shantaram, written by Gregory David Roberts in 2003. The plot follows an Australian bank robber who escapes from prison and ends up in Bombay, India in the early 1980s. It is the perfect opportunity to watch an excellent Charlie Hunnam in a very varied and international cast, such as Vincent Perez. Despite a slow pace, the setting of the story is interesting thanks in large part to the discovery of the social environment of Bombay, we go from the slums, to the more refined places frequented by foreigners, the main character is always under the threat of being identified and arrested. This tension gives a real interest in the first episodes of the series. His time in prison was really hard like we can witness though his various nightmares. To survive and to live, Charlie Hunnam character will have to work for the criminal underworld of the city. If we don’t mind its slow pace, then don’t miss this new series!
