Peacemaker
WHY
With the new series Peacemaker, HBO Max and especially James Gunn, he is the producer, writer and director on the show, offer us to know more about the superhero that we discovered in The Suicide Squad. A character rough, misogynistic, violent and a little out of time but with a side still endearing and who is beautifully interpreted by John Cena. The series begins after the events of the movie, which will be shown to us in a quick montage, and the release of Peacemaker from prison. We will then discover his family and more precisely his father, the excellent Robert Patrick, and his pet, an eagle called… Eagly. Thinking that he would be quiet, Peacemaker will be quickly disappointed when a part of the team that managed Taskforce X comes back to contact him to involve him in their team and their mission. The beginning of the series sets up this team with new members and we will also discover during an intense and brutal fight that the gore aspect of the movie is not forgotten. James Gunn brings his touch throughout this very good first episode and we recognize immediately his writing style and of course his musical choices. We can’t wait to discover who is behind this mysterious threat and to see Peacemaker in action again!
WHAT
Peacemaker will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in James Gunn’s 2021 film, “The Suicide Squad” – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
