Reacher

WHY

Amazon offers us to return to the world of Jack Reacher created by the writer Lee Child with Reacher. This first season is based on the book, Killing Floor. The first big change with the movies with Tom Cruise is the very imposing stature of this new Jack Reacher because if Tom Cruise could walk more or less unnoticed, it is absolutely not the case with Alan Ritchson. The story integrates perfectly this change of physique by bringing very good humorous and of course action sequences. On the other hand, the personality of our hero has not changed and we find again this very special and confident character. His deduction skills are still working well. The story is really interesting and full of surprises, we follow it with great interest. The relationships between the different characters is well done. And it’s interesting to discover also the childhood of Reacher. The various fight scenes are very well choreographed and intense, Alan Ritchson gives a real feeling of power. It is really a good entertainment series!

WHAT

Reacher follows Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with. One thing above all is for sure: They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

Suspicion

WHY

Uma Thurman arrives on Apple TV+ with the new series, Suspicion. The series is an adaptation of the award-winning Israeli thriller series, False Flag. The story is about who kidnapped the son of a prominent American businesswoman. The series opens with this kidnapping which is captured by the hotel’s surveillance cameras. This video will quickly go viral. The authorities will quickly isolate Brit suspects from different social and professional backgrounds. The pilot episode presents them in an interesting way and we wonder if they are really guilty or not. Because except for one of the characters, the doubt is really well maintained for the others. Their lives will be completely upset. One cool element is that the series often switches between New York and London. Some sequences are really well done, especially with the passage from one character to another in the same camera movement. The story is really interesting and we feel that the kidnapping is only a first step in the plot. Our only small regret is not to see enough Uma Thurman in the first episodes.

WHAT

When the son of a prominent American businesswoman (Thurman) is kidnapped from a New York hotel, the eye of suspicion quickly falls on four seemingly ordinary British citizens who were at the hotel on the night in question. As they find themselves in a trans-Atlantic cat and mouse race to evade the combined forces of the National Crime Agency and the FBI to prove their innocence, it becomes apparent that not everyone can be trusted. Who is really behind the mysterious abduction, and who is only guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
