The Suicide Squad

WHY

After having taken us into space with his Guardians of the Galaxy (and waiting for the third opus) in the MCU, James Gunn goes this time into the DC universe to offer us a new adventure of the completely crazy team of The Suicide Squad. Unlike the previous film, the studio leaves almost total control to its director and this is felt from the first minutes! The surprises are going to be numerous and it’s a real pleasure to discover the new members of the Task Force X always commanded by the ruthless Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). We find some well-known faces like Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and especially the beautiful Margot Robbie. Among the new faces Idris Elba will lead this new team, his charisma works at full speed, which will be composed of course Margot Robbie and with Mikaela Hoover, David Dastmalchian and John Cena. Each of these new characters will be really well developed and will become very endearing even if their survival might be quite temporary, but the most striking and funny new member is undoubtedly King Shark (for whom Sylvester Stallone gives his voice). The action sequences are going to be very spectacular and, surprise, really gory! James Gunn really takes advantage of this and it’s a real pleasure to watch those crazy sequences. Speaking of action, Margot Robbie will have the best of them including an escape sequence that will remain in the memories. The money shots will be legion during the film as well as the punchlines and a top soundtrack selection. As usual, the director will fill the film with references and really cool cameos. We leave you the pleasure to discover them in this really spectacular movie! Stay tuned at the end of the movie because you will have two post-generic sequences!

Super-Villains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker and a collection of cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X where they are heavily-armed and dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

VAL

WHY

Get ready for a real dive into the private and professional life of actor Val Kilmer with this documentary! Since his youth, the actor has constantly filmed all the moments of his life and filled an impressive number of boxes of video tapes and other media. These moments include sequences with his family, but also during auditions and on the various shoots. This offers extremely interesting behind-the-scenes footage in which we discover a Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon and Tom Cruise at the beginning of their career but also the discovery of the Top Gun sets as well as great moments with the cast between the takes. A movie that Val Kilmer originally didn’t want to do. The actor is incredibly touching and honest, he really speaks without filters or restraint. This is made even more emotional by the fact that the voice-over is that of his son, Jack, who discovers the text while reading it. This makes for some truly poignant moments! Val Kilmer doesn’t try to hide his illness, a larynx cancer, and is really open about it. It’s a real pleasure to discover the evolution of his career but also his private life like the terrible drama that affected his family when he was a child, without forgetting his own family and his children. It is really a rare moment to be able to follow an actor in such intimate moments. We discover with great pleasure all the energy and sacrifices he had to make to be able to develop a very personal project. And the fusion he shows with his son is really touching! Do not miss this documentary!

WHAT

For over 40 years Val Kilmer, one of Hollywood’s most mercurial and/or misunderstood actors has been documenting his own life and craft through film and video. He has amassed thousands of hours of footage, from 16mm home movies made with his brothers, to time spent in iconic roles for blockbuster movies like Top Gun, The Doors, Tombstone, and Batman Forever. This raw, wildly original and unflinching documentary reveals a life lived to extremes and a heart-filled, sometimes hilarious look at what it means to be an artist and a complex man.
